Exclusive Photos : World’s First Android Tablet With USB 3.0 Spied

Tucked away on the ST-Ericsson booth at MWC in Barcelona is one of the company’s partners from India, Asmaitha, who showed us the prototype of a rather intriguing tablet, the Sruta tablet PC which is the first Android tablet in the world to come with a USB 3.0 port.

It runs on a dual core ST-Ericsson Nova A9500, a dual core Cortex-A9 based chipset clocked at 1GHz, with 1GB RAM, 8GB onboard storage and a microSD card sLot. The final product will run Ice Cream Sandwich and should come towards the end of the year.

Other features include a 7-inch display (demo unit was running 800×480 pixels although a company spokesperson said that it would carry a 1024×600 pixels one at launch with a bigger 10.1-inch 1280×800 pixels tablet in the pipeline as well.

There’s an eight megapixel camera at the back, a two megapixel one in the front, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, onboard 3G/HSPA+ compatibility, a 6000mAh battery and a microHDMI port.

The Bangalore-based tablet maker expects the product to be available later this year for $200 or around £160. No details as to whether this tablet will come to Europe or indeed be sold outside India.
